2 PROVISION OF THE WEBSITE (LOG FILES)

2.1 Description and Scope of Data Processing

When you access our website, i.e. even if you do not register or otherwise provide information, information of a general nature is automatically collected. This information (server log files) includes, for example, the type of web browser, the operating system used, the domain name of your Internet service provider, your IP address, referrer URL, date and time of access, and similar data.

This data is processed in particular for the following purposes:

Ensuring a smooth connection setup of the website,
Ensuring the smooth use of our website, as well as
Ensuring and evaluating system security and stability, in particular for detecting misuse, and
Ensuring the technically error-free presentation and optimization of our website.

The data is also stored in the log files of our system. This data is not stored together with other personal data of the user. We do not use your data to draw conclusions about your identity. However, we reserve the right to subsequently review the server log files if there are concrete indications of unlawful use.

We use service providers for the operation and maintenance of our website who act as our data processors. All service providers are contractually obliged to treat your data confidentially.

3 CONTACT

3.1 Description and Scope of Data Processing

Our website contains a contact form that can be used for electronic communication. If you make use of this option, the personal data entered in the input mask will be transmitted to us and stored. The processing of your personal data serves solely to process your inquiry.

At the time the message is sent, the following data is also transmitted and stored:

Personal master data (first name, last name, academic title)

Internal company assignment data (position within the company, company name, personnel number, supervisor, building and room number)

Alternatively, contact can be made via the email addresses provided. In this case, the personal data transmitted with the email will be stored. This includes:

Our website is maintained by service providers who act as our data processors. If you send us an inquiry regarding an offer, service providers engaged by us may receive data for these purposes insofar as they require the data to perform their respective services (e.g. IT services, call centers). 4 NEWSLETTER

4.1 Description and Scope of Data Processing

Your data is used exclusively to send you the subscribed newsletter by email and, provided you have additionally consented, to analyze how you use the newsletter and any linked content. Your name is collected in order to address you personally in the newsletter and, if necessary, to identify you should you wish to exercise your data subject rights.

To verify that a subscription has actually been made by the owner of an email address, we use the “double opt-in” procedure (DOI procedure) for online registrations. This means that after registering for the newsletter, you will receive an email in which you must confirm your subscription by clicking on a link.

At the time of DOI confirmation, the following data is also stored:

Location, date, and time of registration
Email address
If applicable, salutation, first name, last name

In addition, we analyze your reading and usage behavior in order to continuously improve our newsletter and tailor it to your interests and needs. For this purpose, we analyze whether and which content you read or click on in our newsletters to make them more appealing.
